Locale

Longboat Key is south of Anna Maria Island and north of Lido Key, between Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. It is almost equally divided between the counties of Manatee and Sarasota. From some locations one can see both Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. At other points the island widens and accommodates various homes owned both singly and in condominiums, hotels, and sports clubs. Gulf of Mexico Drive runs the length of the island, with ancillary boulevards branching off to residential neighborhoods.

Points of Interest: Sister Keys, Millar Bay, Tidy Island, White Key, Whale Key, Lido Key, and Ken Thompson Park.

About

Wood Charts are based on soundings and measurements from bathymetric and nautical charts. Each depth layer is laser-cut from sheets of Baltic birch and glued together "bread and butter" style to create the contours and shorelines of striking waterways. Select layers are hand-stained a rich blue-green color to discern water from land, and major byways are etched into the land. The whole work is framed in a custom, solid wood frame and protected with a sheet of durable, ultra-transparent acrylic.
