This International Code of Signals flag is assembled and sewn from sturdy marine-grade nylon. It is part of the fourty-flag set representing the 26 letters of the alphabet, ten numerals, three substitutes, and an answering pennant. The code of signals may be strung together to form messages, or flown singly, each flag signifying an internationally agreed meaning. Or the flags may be linked randomly to ""dress ship"" with a burst of color.

A PLASTIC LAMNATED CARD MAY BE ORDERED SEPARETELY IN THIS SECTION ILLUSTRATING THE CODE OF SIGNALS AND INDIVIDUAL FLAG MEANINGS. U.S. Publication 102 International Code of Signals from the National Imagery & Mapping Agency may be separately ordered in the book section giving comprehensive coverage to the use of the International Code.

Most open-stock code flags are supplied with brass grommets. Some are supplied with lanyards and toggles. If this is a concern for you please contact Captains to ascertain which are available in the flag(s) you are interested in. Complete 40-flag sets are uniformly supplied with toggles and lanyards for stringing together a series of flags. (In size #14 (4 ft x 6 ft flags) complete sets are supplied with brass snaphooks and rings. 1 1/3 x 3 foot pennants match 2 x 2 ft letter flags, and 1 1/3 x 2 2/3 foot substitute flags. 2 2/3 x 9 foot pennants match 4 x 6 foot letter flags and 2 2/3 x 5 1/4 foot substitutes."
