Prince William Sound - Eastern Section
Cruising Planner Map

By Don Douglass and Réanne Hemingway Douglass

Prince William is undoubtedly the jewel of Alaskan cruising waters—the destination many boaters deam of. Its 2,500 square miles of well-protected waters hold the greatest concentration of tidewater glaciers in North America. Myriad inlets, islands and islets conceal enough bays and coves for a lifetime of unparalleled exploring. Montague, Hinchinbrook and Hawkins Islands form a nearly perfect 80-mile-long breakwater" unbreached by Gulf of Alaska swells. Within the sound, wind chop seldo exceeds 3 to 4 feet during summer and, with limitless daylight hours near summer solstice, cruising becomes an almost 24-hour possibility.

The front of Eastern Section map has a chart finder, a locator map, inset maps, and the unique Proven Cruising Routes© taken by Don and Réanne Douglass aboard their research vessel, Baidarka. Each map is GPS compatible. The back of the map has large-scale, detailed diagrams of 64 harbors and coves—all the places to tie up and anchor. Included are an alphabetical index of places, and a listing of route waypoints.
